Why We Built This Site
West Virginia offers several public record channels, but no single office holds the complete Fayette County picture. The sheriff keeps reports it creates, WVDCR operates the regional-jail search, and court clerks preserve charges and dispositions. The West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau maintains the fingerprint repository, while WVSP also operates the West Virginia Sex Offender Registry. This site organizes those distinct contacts, search tools, request routes, and published costs without suggesting that one result replaces the underlying official file.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: where Fayette County court, sheriff, municipal, and statewide records are held
- Record guides: how to search and read Fayette County criminal court cases
- Official check directions: how fingerprint-based review works through West Virginia State Police
- Record relief information: where West Virginia expungement forms and Fayette filing records originate
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not a West Virginia court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. Those limits matter:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot file expungement petitions, records requests, or any other paperwork on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every published phone number, cost, or address remains current
Only the issuing sheriff, police agency, court, WVDCR, or West Virginia State Police can provide its official record. This resource can identify that office, but cannot issue the document.
Search Partners
Search boxes on some pages are supplied by independent providers. Those providers control their products, results, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral payment to this site. We do not set their charges, create their results, or treat those results as official Fayette County records.
